Think Before You Drink

I chose to go with my "Think Before You Drink" idea for my awareness poster. I really liked the idea of making a "beer car". When I was messing around with making this, I originally had the beer car on a black background with the words Think Before You Drink. I was going to just leave it like that, but I thought it was too plain so I added a colored background, the brain, and the second set of words.

Edited with your suggestions. I do like the red background more than the pastel blue one.

Awareness Sketches

These are my sketches for the awareness poster. Some of them aren't very good, but I think they get the point of what I'm trying to communicate pretty well. I will explain a few of them, i.e the one with the dogs is supposed to symbolize racism. One dog would be black and one would be white if I chose to go with this design. However, at this point I am unsure of which one I'm leaning towards the most. Feedback would most certainly be appreciated, especially with the wording of the text!

The Dreamcatchers

My band is titled The Dreamcatchers. I originally wanted to go with the roadtrippers idea that I had, but could not find images that I liked enough to use for it, so I decided to go with this one. I used images from pixabay.com, like Meghan did. I used six images from there - the starry background, the feather, the moon, the sleeping girl, the dream catcher, and the text bubble. I think that my design is effective because it properly represents the title of the band. I did have some trouble with erasing the backgrounds on the images, particularly the feather and the girl as they are both oddly shaped. The idea for these images came to me while I was actually trying to fall asleep last night. I suffer from insomnia, and last night was particularly rough so I was thinking about how I could make this image come to life if it were to be the one I chose - which it ended up being chosen. I knew I wanted there to be a dream catcher, for obvious reasons, on a starry background. I also wanted there to be a person sleeping somewhere. The moon was added in as I was working on it trying to figure out what else I could add. I wanted the text bubble to represent how one would see a dream, if that makes sense. The feather was actually my best friends idea. I knew I wanted to place something under the words but couldn't figure out what. He suggested a feather to represent the feathers on a dream catcher, and it ended up working out perfectly!

Module 2 Preliminary Sketches.

These are my sketches for the fictitious artist/band. I mistakenly used my bigger sketchbook and only realized that it was a bit too big when I went to scan, that is why there are two pictures instead of one. I will remember next time to use my normal sized sketchbook. I was playing around with a couple of different ideas, particularly the brain one. I quite like the dreamcatcher one and the roadtrippers one in the last picture, so I think I am going to go with one of those for my final design.
